Hi, my name is Abbey Boenig-Dombek and I am graduate of the University of Akron. When my journey began at the university, I was originally only a dance major. I have been dancing since the age of 2 so it was something I always knew I wanted to continue on with. Throughout my dance experience I have suffered many different types of injuries, some more severe than others. I have always had difficult time finding medical professionals who understood the mechanics and intensity of movement that came with being a dancer. This weighed on my mind and motivated me to also want to become a physical therapist that could help other dancers stay healthy and get back to doing their art form. With my drive to pursue both the art and medical field, I am currently double majoring at the university in dance and exercise science.

At the University of Akron, I studied a wide range of classical dance styles including ballet, modern, tap, and jazz. As a member of the dance team at the university I have also become well versed in pom technique and commercial jazz. I have had countless performance opportunities in front of crowds ranging from hundreds to thousands of spectators. This has helped me to become more comfortable in high stakes situations and perform well under pressure. I have learned a lot about myself in the past five years and continue to grow as an artist and performer.
